The Ford family has been mainstays in the MidDel business community for over 35 years. Roger Ford moved to Del City in 1971 and began working in a local, family owned Funeral Home. After the family sold out to a corporation Roger and Cheryl Ford started working toward opening a family owned Funeral Home and in 2003 they along with their son Matthew opened Ford Funeral Service. Cheryl was born and raised in the MidDel area and was strong in her convictions to stay and serve the only community she had ever known. Matthew Ford has lived his entire life in this area. Roger, Cheryl and Matthew Ford all three have a strong belief in community service. Roger is the current President of the Rose State College Foundation and the past President of the MidDel School Foundation, MidDel Tinker 100 Club and the Del City Chamber of Commerce. He currently serves on the Board of Directors of Studio MidDel and belongs to the Del City Kiwanis Club. Cheryl served for ten years as a volunteer at Midwest City Hospital including two terms as their president. She also served on the Board of Directors of the Oklahoma Hospital Association of Volunteers, was active in PTA and Studio MidDel. Roger and Cheryl have been members of Sunny Lane United Methodist Church for 34 years. Matthew is a member of Midwest City Rotary Club and Meadowood Baptist Church . Roger and Cheryl have three children and three grandchildren; their son, Justin and his wife Christine and grandchildren Makenzie and Joshua; their son, Matthew and his wife Laura and granddaughter Jorden; their daughter, Kimberlee who is a teacher at Townsend Elementary.
In July of 2005 the Ford's were proud to open Candlewood Event Center. Located next door to Ford Funeral Service, Candlewood serves not only as a Chapel for funeral services but also accommodates, weddings, business meetings, family parties, anniversaries, civic meetings, retreats and company training. One of the main functions of Candlewood is to serve as a meeting place for Grief Recovery Groups. Roger and Cheryl Ford have been Certified Grief Recovery Specialists since 1985. Together they have led 100s of Recovery Groups touching the lives of 1000's of people in Central Oklahoma. The Fords are committed to serving their communities for generations to come.
